Looking at my most recent post, I noticed on the Matt’s Bar menu board that they call carbonated beverages by the name of “pop”.  Personally, I’ve always called it “soda” and I find that it varies from place to place and person to person and for some unknown reason (probably because I’m crazy), it has always bothered me when someone calls it other than soda.  For example, my mom calls it “pop” and that has always driven me nuts and I find myself correcting her from time to time (I told you I was crazy!).

I’ve also heard here locally in Indiana that every carbonated beverage is called a “Coke”, no matter if the actual drink is a Pepsi, Mountain Dew, 7Up or an actual Coca-Cola.   Kind of a local thing, but I’ve always found that pretty funny.

Anyway, here’s a lighthearted weekend poll.  What do you call a carbonated beverage?  If you call it something other than a “soda”, “pop” or “Coke”, please check the “Other” option and write what you call it in the comments section.  If you are crazy like me and are bothered when someone calls it other than your chosen word, voice your opinion.  I’d love to hear from you.  Anyway, thanks for reading and vote in the poll!

Soda, Pop or Other?

I was at Burger King (fancy brick one) and saw this sign in the drive thru.   I laughed thinking…who would order the 16 oz when you can get the 22 oz for the same price!?   I mentioned this theory when I got back to work and a few people said, “well, if I get any size coffee at McDonald’s, I usually get a medium.”  Really?

I am not a wasteful person so I tend to conserve, but I would max out this Icee deal no problem.  People eat more at buffets (generally), so that mentality is there.  Let’s finalize the score here.

Okay, reaching out to the WIBIA army on this one.  In my opinion, a pizza is defined as: sauce and cheese on a crust.  Someone very close to me (it may or may not be my wife)  thinks that cheese is a topping because when you order a pizza, they will ask what kind of pizza and cheese is an option. Furthermore, it is “on top” of the pizza as well.

My point, cheese is required to call it pizza, otherwise it is just bread and sauce. I understand there are so called pizzas without sauce and some without cheese.  Whatever.

Anytime that I look at a pizza menu, the pricing starts off with cheese pizza and then 1 topping etc, 2 toppings, etc.  It doesn’t start off with bread and sauce!!!!

Before someone asks, cheese is a topping if you order extra cheese.

If you want, list your favorite pizza toppings/combinations in the comments section.  My favorite, sausage and pepperoni.
