Rook is located right by Bluebeard in Fletcher Place. I really hope that Fletcher Place will continue to redevelop and be a great bridge from downtown to Fountain Square.
What I Ate: Raven and Crow’s Nest. Both were $8.
Raven is thinly sliced marinated steak. I loved this sandwich. The combination on the mayo, cilantro and pickled veggies with the salty/spicy marinade was lights out. There was an honest portion of beef on the sandwich and I didn’t leave hungry. I wouldn’t change anything about the Raven, a great sandwich.
The Crowe’s Nest is BBQ pork with the same toppings as the Raven. I didn’t find this nearly as successful. The only flavor that I could get from the pork was sweet. I would’ve liked to see this finished on the flat top like carnitas. Consider how good the Raven is, I am not sure how this still gets a spot on the menu.
Would I Buy It Again? Yes, of course. I liked the interior, the staff was helpful, I like the location and the interior was simple bell well thought out. All you need to know about Rook is that Carlos Salazar (Oakleys) is the chef and he created a dinner menu that looks amazing. I am looking forward to my next visit for dinner.
