The donut market in the Indianapolis market has gone through big changes over the past few years. Krispy Kreme once had a large presence here, but now maintains only three retail locations in Indiana, with none of them in Indianapolis. Sure you can still find a Krispy Kreme in a gas station or a Kroger but they donuts need to be eaten fresh, within a few hours of being made ideally.
Dunkin Donuts continues to expand with ten Indianapolis are locations, but besides Carmel and the Geist area, DD has mostly stayed away from the suburbs. For you suburbanites in Greenwood and Fishers, Daylight Donuts is an fresh option to take care of your donut fix.
What I Got: Pasty; $4.95.
The pasty is a calzone like pocket that is filled with ground beef, carrots and potatoes. I got mine fairly early in the morning when they are made fresh. The pasty filling lacked any kind of seasoning, was bland, and dry from being baked. The outer shell/pockets was too thin and fell apart when I would try and pick it up. This menu items has potential but needs a lot of work before I would try it again.
What I Got: Dozen Donuts; $10.68 (main picture above).
Cake donuts at Daylight are a bit cheaper than the rest of their donuts and can be purchased with a discount as a dozen. The majority of their donuts are 89 cents and you do not receive a discount for buying a full dozen.
At the top of the box in the photo, is my favorite, the raspberry filled Bismarck. It has just enough raspberry filling, soft inside with a bit of that fresh crunch on the outside. Just below is a powdered sugar coated version and it is not as good as the original raspberry filled. The cinnamon rolls are not the best I have ever had but certainly worth a try. The chocolate covered vanilla filled Bismarck’s on the right side of the box are excellent. The long john was average and the chocolate cake donut was the only disappointment. I compare every chocolate cake donut to the one Dunkin Donuts offers and this one did not matchup.
Would I Buy It Again? Yes. I have been to Daylight several times and have always received a fresh product and fast service. If you enjoy eating fresh donuts and are in Fishers or Greenwood, Daylight Donuts is a solid choice to meet your donut cravings.
