Review: Little Caesar’s Hot-N-Ready Pizza

Little Caesar’s Pizza
http://www.littlecaesars.com/

I love this concept.  On the way home from work and need to pick up something to feed hungry bellies that doesn’t cost much, this is a workable choice.   Pizza size is 14″, costs $5.00 and Pepperoni is always an option.  Some stores also have other options like Ultimate Supreme, Hula Hawaiian and 3 Meat Treat, but you’ll have to call your local store for availability.

What I Got:  Hot-N-Ready Pepperoni Pizza; $5.00.

The pizza is really bland.  Sauce, crust and even the pepperoni is pretty bland.  However, sprinkle some Italian Seasoning or Oregano and Red Pepper flakes on it and it turns out to be quite edible.  Outside of that, this is just a typical pizza and there’s nothing remarkable.

Would I Buy It Again?  I am really torn here.   It is a 10+ on the value scale.  It is a lot better than most frozen pizzas and about as much as a combo meal from a fast food joint.  However, on taste alone, it is probably a 5/10.  The most average inoffensive pizza that you could have.   Because of that, it’s a good choice when you need to feed a couple of kids.

  1. These dough, bland pies have been my number one pregnancy craving. They’re bad, don’t get me wrong, but it sounds good to me ALL OF THE TIME! I hope to never have another “Hot and Ready” night in a few months, but until then, bring it on!

  3. That actually looks edible enough. And kids are never going to complain about pizza, unless it’s something fancy like Pizzology. Thanks for posting this – I’ll have to pick one up for the kids sometime.

  4. My kid loves this pizza. She requested it at her birthday party and all the kids were happy to eat it. However, I think its just ok. It a great value for a quick meal for a family.

PS I love your blog and wish you lived in my city

  5. I love these pizzas! The location near me has a nice tangy sauce. I like to add some kind of cheese and put it in the oven for a bit to brown the cheese and crisp up the crust. I’ve definitely had worse pizza, and this is not bad pizza either. Good and filling!

  6. I agree with your review on this pizza. The cost & convenience is amazing but it is definitely a really bland pizza. I had to add spices! Perfect for kids though!

  7. Not the biggest fan of the hot-n-ready (which, forgive me, I can’t help but think dirty things with)… it is what it is… but I’d be stoked if they brought back pizza by the foot.

  9. This is exactly what is wrong with fast food. No quality love or passion. I don’t mean from the employees but from the corporation. All they offer is speed. Hell, even Mcdonalds has unique food. I also dissagree about this being better than frozen pizzas. I’ll take a tombstone or digornos any day over a hot and ready. I will give little ceasers this, it is better than an over cooked and burnt hot pocket from a trash can. I wouldn’t feed anyones kids little ceasers out of fear of ruining their developing tastebuds.

Don’t take this comment wrong though. While I loathe LC, I am a fan of this spiffy site you have. =P

  10. I get one of these on occasion and when I do I usually top it with Sriracha sauce and 5-7 spices from my Penzys collection. That might seem like cheating, but it makes a damn good pizza for under $6 (counting cost of hot sauce and spices)

  11. I’m definitely not above enjoying Little Caesars from time to time. It’s in no way my first or maybe even 6th choice, but as far as eating cheap goes it’s hard to do much better.

  13. Try papa murphys take/bake. You’ll be happier.

  14. What I find funny about all these comments is how many people have to doctor their pizza in order to try and make it tasty. LOL, shouldn’t the point of a carryout pizza be that it is done correctly and you should be able to eat it immediately without having to re-do the flavor profile? I would think that would be the intention of any restaurant.

That said, $5 is a helluva deal for large pizza, flavorless or not.

FYI, BigRedEater, there is a new Little Caesar’s opening pretty close to your neck of the woods at 116th & Allisonville (in the Marsh plaza) on May 31st.

  15. The Little Caesar’s here lets me get the square pizza for $5. Much, much better than the round.

  17. There has been much discussion of that Little Caeser’s opening. Several families I know are excited about being able to get away from Hungry Howies (though my kids like that too!)

I noted their sign the other day advertising their “Job Fair” and thought “boy, the economy must be worse than I thought if Little Caeser’s is hosting a job fair!”

  19. A cheap pizza one may want to try is the pepperoni pizza that Speedway now sells. The pizza that Speedway near the zoo usually cooks the pizzas right. You can buy them in the refrigeration section of the store. They sell the pizzas by the slice: $1.50 for one slice, or two for $2.00. You can buy the entire pizza already fully cooked for $5.00. Since they may not have an entire pizza cooked and ready for sale, you can always just get an uncooked one and cook it at home. The Speedway gas station pizza is better tasting than the Little Caesar’s pizza.

  20. This is one of my husband’s favorite foods of all time–he could eat it every day. I think it’s ok.
For $3 order the deep dish–it’s awesome–also I like the JCP (jalepeno cheese bread)—so salty and awful for you (it’s awesome)

  21. I went into the new 116th and Allisonville location and tried it myself for the 1st time in 15 years. TERRIBLE pizza! I could have chosen any number of frozen pizzas that were higher quality and had better taste like the one I reviewed below and still get weekly.

I also tried the Crazy Bread and it tasted stale and loaded with garlic that overpowered everything.

If you need the Hot N Ready, pay an extra buck or 2 and go to Domino’s for a far superior pizza.

  23. I’m sorry if it is nasty to me I am not going to feed it to my kids regardless if they won’t complain. You must draw the line when it comes to the quality of food you feed yourself and your children.

  24. I enjoyed it as a rare occasion, when I had kids with me that needed to eat, and not alot of money to spend. It wasn’t the best Pizza I had ever eaten, but it wasn’t bad.

But, now that I am pregnant, I can’t get enough. I crave it, and my lard butt eats one or two a week.. Its the only thing I can keep down no problem..

  25. hah, been eating these for a full year every day, and they are bland and I hate the sauce, but it took me that long to get sick of it. I liked it for a loooong time.
