Okay, I know this is a food blog, but guess what most guys in their 30’s like…beer! The problem is, I haven’t spent enough time learning about beer. Beer and food pairings, etc. What I know is that I don’t like really dark beers (stop rolling your eyes). I am not interested when it gets darker than Newcastle. If I was subjected to a blind taste test, I think that I would be able to tell you if it is an ale, porter, ipa, hefweizen, about 7/10 times. If there was money involved, I would probably say 5/10 times. Enough about me.
For the national audience, Upland is from Bloomington, IN (Indiana University). If you are form Indiana, you surely have heard of Upland, right? The tasting room offers tastings (duh!) pints, growler service and that is about it. Growlers were $8 to fill and a flight was right around $6-$7 (I can’t remember).

My go to Upland Beer is the Dragonfly IPA. However, after the tasting I realized that my new favorite Upland selection is the Rad Red. Of course I didn’t like the Porter, but I don’t like any Porters. I liked going through the flight and if you are one of those people who are not really sure what kind of beer you like, then this would be a good place to start without having to kick back 6 entire beers.
Would I Buy It Again? Yes. It was a cool place to chill and grab some great local beers. If I lived close, I would be there at 12:00 for a pint and to read the Sunday paper. If you are into beer and actually want opinions from people that have a deep understand of beer, check out our friends at Hoosier Beer Geek…quite possibly the best beer blog on the web.

Quite possibly? More like “Definitely”.
Kidding, of course. Thanks for the link and love.
Upland’s Tasting Room is great – feels like someone’s living room, just with better beer selections available.
Their Komodo Dragon IPA, which I believe is available right now, is stellar (it was available last week, not sure if it’s still on tap).
They also sell those A Taste of Philly pretzels, which are pretty good – particularly after a few pints.
