Hardee's Chargrilled Chicken Sandwich

What I Got:  Hardee’s Charbroiled Chicken Club Sandwich
Chicken Breast – Swiss Cheese – Bacon – Tomato – Lettuce – Mayo – Honey Wheat Bun
Nutrition: Calories: 560, Fat: 30g

You probably know by now that my favorite fast food chicken sandwich is the Big Chicken Filet at Hardee’s.   While trying to loose a few lbs., I tried the Charbroiled Chicken Club instead and held the mayo.  I know what you are thinking…sweet diet…bacon and cheese on a sandwich.  Take the mayo off though and I am sure that I knocked off 100 calories, so 460 ain’t bad!

The bad news is that I didn’t really care for this sandwich.  Everything here should’ve worked, but it didn’t hit home.  Maybe some Dijon mustard would’ve brought it back to life?  I was pleased with the chicken patty itself and I thought that it was up to par with the fried Hardee’s patty.  Produce was okay for fast food in the winter.

What I disliked the most was the honey bun and I realized that I am not a fan of sweet buns on anything.  This sandwich, the McGriddle, etc., all with honey buns.  If they have the option for a toasted ciabatta or whatever (you get the point), I think they would be back on track with this sandwich.

Would I Buy It Again?  No.  It wasn’t bad by any means, but I’d rather go all in with the Big Chicken Fillet or Frisco Melt.  I would give it a 6/10 and I liked it better than McDonald’s chicken offerings.  This was a very average fast food chicken sandwich.  I set the bar pretty high based on the Big Chicken Fillet and I was pulled back down to reality with this one.

  1. Captain Darnel says:
  2. Come on now. You can’t review Hardees food and take off the mayo! They pride themselves on big sloppy sandwiches and you took off the slop!

  3. I have to say – the produce on that looks really good [as you said, for winter - heck it looks food for summer :) ] But I have to agree that the sweet bun would throw me off a bit.

I know everyone is all about the new, best thing “sweet and savory” but me? Not so much.

Can they put it on something different I wonder?

And the bacon and cheese look good too. I would always leave the mayo off [not a fan] but it wouldn’t be a calorie thing. Not when the rest is kind of fattening. :)

  4. Do any fast food restaurants know how to actually COOK bacon? I swear. LOL Most times it looks like they pulled it out of the wrapper, warmed it up in the microwave, and slapped it on whatever it is you’re getting. Of course I know everyone likes this and that their own way – but it’s crisp and well done bacon for me! That bacon just looks sad! :)

  5. Yes, WIBIA, Frisco FTW.

  6. you are right, as far as im concerned. I dislike most mcds sandwiches cause I can taste the sugar in the bun. Dont get me wrong, I like sweet stuff, like sweet rolls, turnovers, cakes, etc.. but not usually mixed with meat. Went to a seafood place recently, wont give the name, but it is considered upscale, higher than the lobster, and ordered broiled halibut. I came slathered in a ” chefs honey and apricot glaze” . read peach jam and karo syrup. who wants that on fish? or pecan/ maple encrusted trout, thats another “upscale” dish around here. I like a little squezze of citrus juice on my fried fish. but dont dump a pot of orange marmelade on it, please. and bacon like in the picture… well it looks like the stuff from field rations that came rolled up out of a grapefruit juice can. well, I guess you get what you pay for, in their defense, if you run a resturaunt. at least the tomato looks good ( red).

  7. it is a marketing thing, though. Like subway’s Less than 7 grams of fat sandwiches. sure, if you leave off the chesse, oil and vinegar, mayo, etc… on the plain bread… but who wants that… once and a great while I eat a subway, the bmt, with extra chesse, dripping oil and mayo, and a beer or two also.. but most times I content myself with a chicken sanwich with one slice of swiss, and iced tea, at home… smile…

  8. I personally like the BBQ charbroiled chicken at Hardee’s. It can be kind of sloppy, but it’s still good. Have you ever tried their onion rings? Not too shabby.

  9. my name is walter and i went to school for culinary arts for a year or so . so i hope hardees step up there game . because i will be working there real soon .

  10. i just eat one cause i orderd a big chicken but got that and im alergic to honey and my throt hurst now and it was disgusting but i didnt want to drie back to hardees and say you gave me the wrong thing blah blah blah cause it was nasty i did not like it

  11. I worked for Hardee’s for ten years and we used to have to cook it in the ovens for the breakfast shift and then they went to pre cooked bacon thank god.

Hardee’s is constantly experimenting with their menu, one of the most under rated fast food restaurants.

But their biscuit and gravy and chicken sandwiches are da bomb!

Best fast food hot dogs around.
