Review: Qdoba Breakfast Burrito
Author: indianapoliseater | Filed under: Food Reviews, Recommended: Chain Restaurant
In the battle of the fast casual Mexican burrito joints, I have always preferred Chipotle over Qdoba, but based on a recommendation from friends and a request from one of our readers, I decided to head to my local Qdoba for a breakfast burrito.
What I Got: 13″ Spicy Mexican Chorizo Breakfast Burrito $5.99
There are many different options for the breakfast burrito at Qdoba including both size (10″ or 13″) or primary choice of meat (Chicken, Spicy Mexcian Chorizo or just plain eggs; I do seem to recall my local Qdoba offering steak as well, but it is not on the Qdoba website…maybe it’s just a local thing). Since I feel that chorizo is one of the most underappreciated breakfast meats, that was the way that I decided to go.
Also on the burrito as it comes straight from the menu are seasoned new potatoes, scrambled eggs and your choice of 3-cheese queso or ranchero sauce. I chose 3-cheese queso and also added some Pico de Gallo to my burrito as since I wanted a little of the salsa taste to go with my eggs.
Taste-wise, I was VERY impressed by this burrito. The chorizo was spicy, the scrambled eggs were done well and the potatoes still had a little crispness to the despite the fact that they had obviously been in the warmer box on the burrito line for quite some time. The 3-cheese queso actually had a little kick to it as well, so combined with the spicy chorizo, this one had a little kick to it to give me a nice wake-up in the morning. Because I got the large size, I was quite full. This is definitely something that’s going to fill you up as well.
Would I Buy It Again? Yes, I definitely would and I would recommend others to partake in it as well. Like I said, I was always a little apprehensive about ever getting this thing despite the fact that I had heard several positive reviews. But, those reviews were right on and this thing is awesome. I’ll definitely be getting this on multiple occasions from now on. My only complaint was that the chorizo was quite oily and was seeping out of the burrito onto my hands and arms. I just wish Qdoba would do a better job of straining the oil out of the meat after they cook it and before they put it in the warmer box on the food preparation line.
Remember what I said about this being filling? Well, I’d certainly hope it is filling because this thing clocks in at an astounding 970 calories with the way I had it prepared. That’s certainly a big way to start off your day.

Looks amazing and still I have yet to step into a Qdoba. It will be my New Years resolution. Love breakfast burritos. Chorizo is a great choice too.
You really should get this soon since you are the reason that we did this review (you requested it a while back). I figured this would just be a run of the mill burrito, but it really was outstanding.
Oh yeah! I remember being curious about it. I will make my way there soon.
Good post! I’m sitting here with cereal (lame!) wishing I had one of those breakfast burritos. Sounds totally over the top– and awesome.
I don’t know if I could use up almost 50% of my daily calories on a burrito for breakfast. It looks [sort of] good – but honestly – I think I would be sleepy after eating this for breakfast as it looks very greasy and heavy.
This burrito is truly my favorite choice for breakfast and is even better if your get to Qdoba when they open and everything is fresh. I do wish the Chorizo had a bit more spice to it but it is Chorizo for the masses.
My favorite local for Chorizo is found at a great little place called the Pork Store Cafe at 1451 Haight St. in San Francisco CA. You simply cannot beat the quality and taste of breakfast of this locally owned place on historic Haight St. It is on the top of my list of places to return to next time I am in California.
That looks delicious. I know its a pic of roughly a hard bite out a burrito, but damn those insides look good. And your review is great. I will definitely go to Q’doba very soon.
whats not to love… eggs, cheese, choorizo or sasuage, wrapped in a warm flour tortilla, perhaps, and some tomato just a bad angle for me… it looks like allien, busting loose… aghch…. well. been watching too many movies, my self… just saying tough, tha’ts one mean looking burrito….
