Hardee's Monster Biscuit

What I Got: Hardee’s Monster Biscuit $2.99

There are plenty of good breakfast sandwich options on the market but probably the mother of all choices is Hardee’s Monster Biscuit. Hardee’s makes their biscuits fresh everyday and you can taste the difference. This 710 calorie, 51 fat gram treat includes 2250mg of sodium that makes your morning coffee essential to wash this one down. Hardee’s loads two slices of American cheese, a folded egg, a single sausage patty, several slices of ham and bacon on to give you a little bit of everything.

Sometimes it is difficult to distinguish all of the individual flavors when you mix so many ingredients together on a single item but this was not the case on the Monster Biscuit. The ham was not overpowered by the egg like on McDonald’s original Egg McMuffin. The only thing I would change about this sandwich to cut some calories and make it a bit neater to eat in the car would be to eliminate one of the two slices of cheese that made the whole sandwich want to fall apart.

Would I Buy It Again? Not usually, but if I have some calories to spare and want an occasional treat, I would not hesitate to pick this sandwich up. However, my favorite breakfast sandwich continues to be McDonald’s Sausage Egg McMuffin with egg which comes in at 450 calories and only 22 grams of fat or under half the fat of a Monster Biscuit.

  1. Dude I swear get another one from another place. Every one I got looks almost like the website picture. Just by the looks of that thing they didnt put much care into it. BTW if you dont want fat dont by this!

  2. Hmmm…doesn’t look too monstrous to me. I have yet to come across a fast food biscuit breakfast sandwich that I really like…it all comes down to the biscuit for me. I might go to Hardee’s just for the biscuit alone to see how it is.

  3. When I read the words “folded egg” in your review, it immediately transported me back to when I was 14 and working at Hardee’s. I remember making the eggs on the grill, and it always struck me as funny that they called it a folded egg. Like it’s a blanket or something, ha ha. I remember making a breakfast sandwich that was called the “Ultimate Omelet Biscuit” or something like that. We would pour some egg on the grill, then dump this mixture of shredded cheese, bacon bits, and diced ham on top of the egg. Then we folded the egg over the crap and put it all on a biscuit. It wasn’t too bad.

And 2250 mg of sodium?!?!? That’s almost a whole day’s worth of sodium! Jeez…. My dad is a stickler for sodium intake, and I’m sure he’d flip out if he saw the nutrition info on this thing.

All that said, I love Hardee’s biscuits. Dang, that was a long post.

  4. Hardees makes the best breakfast sandwiches hands down. I agree though, you can’t make a habit out of eating them.

Nice to see EatHSE posting some reviews. It has been a while.

  5. They are hard to find, but I think Hardee’s has good biscuits. Their breakfast is probably the best in fast food, MCD second. They also have all you can eat biscuits and gray on Sunday at a lot of the locations around here. I think that it is $3.00 or something super cheap.

  6. Hardees and McDonalds both have similar biscuits that are pretty good. Bojangles, though, takes McDs’ and H’dees biscuits out back and beats the shit out of both of them. Hardees does have my favorite breakfast sandwich(although it is a toss-up with McDonalds’ Sausage, Egg, Cheese McMuffin). I LOVE Hardees Texas Toast Sausage, Egg, and Cheese. It’s essentially a grilled cheese sandwich(and who doesn’t love a grilled cheese?) stuffed with sausage and egg. I could eat them all day.

  7. Funny that you mention Bojangles. We have a review for them coming out tomorrow.

  8. Brkfst. or lunch?

  9. breakfast

  10. I hope it’s the Bo-Berry biscuit. Quite possibly one of the tastiest things a dollar can buy.

  11. That sandwich just does not look appetizing. But if you do order it again, just ask them to leave off the extra piece of cheese – they’ll do it I bet.

I have to agree with the egg on the Egg McMuffin/Biscuit at McDonalds. They are just cooked differently and I can’t stand them at McD’s.

  12. Someone needs to do a gravy biscuit review. I don’t think I have seen that anywhere. For any fast-food location. WIBIA–get on it man! :)

  13. I get these on occasion (especially when I have a coupon) and they’ve never looked that messy….this is a treat for me….yes it makes you heart weep before indulging but it tastes really good.

  14. I don’t know how people can call this ‘breakfast’. It’s gross. The nutrition info alone should scare you off. If that doesn’t, then the fact that it’s a ‘monster’ fast food anything should!

  15. Dang, you beat me to it!

  16. The ham on this sux. I always ask them to leave it off. If it was country ham, it would be great. But its slice, BORING ham.

  18. These Hardee’s ‘Monster Biscuits’ are great. I buy them often when I have a “Buy One Get One Free” coupon. They are loaded with good stuff. They contain sausage, bacon, ham, cheese, and an egg in a large biscuit. This is by far my favorite fast breakfast food. I highly recommend them.

  19. Oh my gosh. Adam, if you have any additional details on that omelet biscuit then spill it. I too worked at Hardee’s as a teen. They rock the breakfast. Actually, most of their food is delish. I can never understand how McDonald’s stays number one in fast food. Anywho, the omelet biscuit was my absolute fave but hasn’t been on the menu in years. I miss it. Sad face. Wasn’t there some kind of magic ranch powder in that filling?

  20. The price is not expensive. To see the shape is not palatable But for a good winter.

  21. Natalie A says:
  22. I worked at Hardee’s as a teenager. We were required to wear black tennis shoes. I would buy those generic Keds-style canvas shoes that you could get for about $5 at the time. I did this because the first pair of shoes I bought for the job lasted only 3 weeks. The grease on the floor literally melted the soles of the shoes to goop. It was disgusting. You couldn’t get within 10 feet of the chicken fryer without slipping and falling. The manager used to brag that the sandwich press (used for ham and cheese sandwiches and those Texas Toast sandwiches) had NEVER been washed since they got it 10 years before. Never since then have I eaten at a Hardee’s. That place was the filthiest place I’ve ever been. Yuck!

  23. oh Natalie!!! That was due to your manager! We do not have a sandwich press now, out Texas Toast just goes through the charbroiler, but ALL our equipment is washed and sanitized on a regular basis! What a shame about the one you worked for.
