Celebrating their 5 year anniversary, Taste has earned a loyal following. I will save you the suspense, they just added another loyal customer. Located at 52nd and College (which btw, is quickly becoming one of my favorite corners in Indy, welcoming Upland Brewery), it is just a quick jaunt from B-Rip.
They have a whiteboard with specials and then a normal menu. Order at the counter and they bring it to you. Everything looked good and my wife was giving me that “just choose look.” So, I decided on…
Curry Chicken Sandwich
Price: $5.95
Ingredients: Roasted Chicken, Sweet madrass curry, dates, apples, tarragon, organic lettuce, tomato and vinaigrette.
This was really good. Great curry taste, but not overdone. What I really liked here was how all the ingredients blended together. I didn’t have one bite and taste a bunch of apple. Sorry the pic sucks, but it was a pretty sandwich. Check out the chile in the pickles…yum.

Parmesan Truffle Fries.
Price: Around $3-$4
Oh mama, these were awesome. They came with the shaved parm on the top which added some nice cheesy and salty flavors to it. Along side, there was a truffle aioli. That put it over the top. These were perfect, absolutely perfect. They were a special on the white board, if Taste knows what is good for them, these should be on the regular menu.
I will go as far to say that these fries are…THE BEST FRIES THAT I HAVE EVER HAD! I have literally had a ton of fries from coast to coast, these are my favorite. Forget duck fat fries, sweet potato fries, chicken fries
…this is the real deal.
Would I Buy It Again? Yes and a very strong Yes. Taste is open for dinner now and I need to go back ASAP. I had a great lunch, very enjoyable and I would strongly recommend Taste. If you are into Cafe Patachou-type breakfast/lunch, I prefer Taste.

I wish I knew Indy better
It’s like a confusing maze for a guy like me! I don’t dare venture into unfamiliar territory when I’m there, because I get lost EVERY TIME. It really sucks, because I’d love to try some of the places you guys review.
Love Taste.
You can always get their fries, so maybe the addition of the parm was what put them on the “special” board? I do love Taste – they have the best omlettes and the only place that can do an egg white omlette that actually cooks up like regular eggs – not watery like a lot of them.
To Adam – For future reference, Indy is laid out in a grid – numbered streets go east west, named streets go north south. If you remember that, it’s super easy to find your way back, even if you end up on an unfamiliar street.
You should really venture to Taste and that area next time – it’s worth it !
Unfortunately I haven’t had many of their sandwiches. The cheddar biscuits and gravy are too hard for me to resist, so I rarely try anything else. I have never been a huge biscuits and gravy fan, but Taste’s are seriously good. I force new dining companions to take a bite.
Yeah, I came here from Boston – compared to that, Indy is a breeze. I do like this neighborhood, food-wise. I ate at Zest this week (which is pretty close by) and it was very good. Add the nearby Yats and this half mile radius has a lot going for it.
Adam, there’s only one way to learn! Put on your explorer’s hat.
The food is good…however…I have never a good “service” experience. Every time something has been amiss….and the servers have “corrected” me by informing me that I am wrong ??? The last time..and I wont go again…we did not receive an ordered item…the server argued that he had brought it..we must have eaten it….I asked that it be removed from the bill…he refused. We left the restaurant and a follow up phone call the next day was met with the always appreciated…”we are very popular…and if you dont like the service…there are other dining choices “…no kidding ? other restaurants.
