Crispy Potato Soft Taco
It’s no secret that we love Taco Bell around here and make frequent trips there. When I go, I usually order off of the greatest value menu ever and this is another fairly recent addition.
What I Got: Crispy Potato Soft Taco 79¢
Taco Bell describes this as “A soft flour tortilla filled with crispy potato bites, Pepper Jack sauce, crisp shredded lettuce and real cheddar cheese.” What they don’t tell you is that there is nothing crispy about the potato bites at all. In mine, they were soggy and mushy and it made this item very, very bland and boring. The Pepper Jack sauce was tasty, but the potato bites ruined it for me. I will give them credit though because they really did manage to pack a lot of stuff into this small tortilla shell.
Would I Buy It Again? No, I would not. I understand that it is cheap and you get what you pay for, but there is so much better stuff available on the value menu that I would order before I ever ordered this again.

A potato taco doesn’t even sound good!
I think it sounds great, and if the potatoes were anything like the cheesy fiesta potatoes, I’d be all over that.
Serves you right for buying a soft taco/burrito/taco with no meat on it.

They’re the same potatoes used. It’s not bad but there are better options on the menu.

Yes..this tasted awesome and wasn’t greasy. And for 79 cents, its a very good deal.
But I can imagine they would taste pretty bad if the potatoes were soggy like some user experienced.
I ordered one of these and it did not have pepperjack sauce on it. Instead, they included the old standby: SOUR CREAM! With sour cream, potatoes, cheese, lettuce, and tortilla, it tasted like a big nothing. Even 3 fire sauce packets barely added anything to this bland excuse for a taco.
This was before the Blackjack Taco became available, so it’s possible my local TB didn’t even have the pepperjack sauce in yet. I don’t know.
I love these tacos! My potatoes were plentiful and deliciously crispy while the insides were soft. I may ask to add tomatoes next time, just to see what that’d taste like. I’ve had 3 in 2 days.
They screwed up my order and gave me two crispy potato taco’s instead of what I asked for which was two crispy taco’s. However, I’m glad they made the mistake, these are awesome! I may just have a new favorite from Taco Bell. My old favorite was the Chilly Cheese Burrito. Sadly though, they aren’t crispy potatoes, but yes, they are good.
So i went to taco bell and decided to try this.. while i agree its not anything super special i do think its a good replacement for the fiesta potatoes if you want a bit more food. the potatoes in mine were still crispy because they just came out of the fryer so i thought it was a pretty good “taco”.
I’m addicted to these. They are quite crispy little potatoes they stick inside there. But they do use sour cream than any other cream, and to top it off I stick on some hot Taco Bell sauce and it makes my tummy full!
I certainly go there to eat these everytime. For 79 cents, it’s wonderful for us students!
Yeah but for people who don’t eat meat…it’s something quick and good to order without all the special ordering. I like ‘em !
It’s a french fry taco. How can you go wrong? The sauce is delicious too. The only problem is the calories are a bit up there (260 per). Plus, this is a freaking miraculous addition to the Taco Bell menu if you are vegetarian!
