Heidi’s first opened in 1997 when two displaced New Yorkers decided to leave their day job to recreate the NY Deli…in Colorado. The second store opened in 1999 and they are about up to 25 now. This location is the only one in Indiana.
I ordered the Trans-Planted New Yorker. $7.99
You have a choice of about five breads and I chose the Ciabatta. The meal is served with a choice of side (Original Lays chips, cole slaw, potato salad.) They also have a selection of premium chips, but that will cost you more. Drink is extra was well. For a combo, it will run you about $9.50.
The sandwich arrived with a sorry looking pickle. Very standard chain veggie : meat ratio. I would also say there was a little less meat than I expected since there were four different kinds of meat on the sandwich. However, I enjoyed the hand cut Ciabatta. I would’ve preferred it to be toasted since it stuck to the top of my mouth a little, but I am just being picky.
The issue that I have here is the quality of the meat. Four tiny slices made a pretty weak meat stack. It wasn’t a balanced sandwich. I liked the special sauce, but couldn’t put my finger on what was in it. The avocado spread was a little too much, the special sauce added enough mayo-like fatness to the sandwich. Then again, since the meat was lame, maybe that is not a bad thing.
Would I Buy It Again? No.On a 10 point scale, I would give it a 5. Very average sandwich that I would expect at a franchised NY Deli. The lack of value for $9.50 pushes it over to the “No” category. Heidi’s offers Nathan’s Hot Dogs, bagel/lox and a few other items, but when the quality of the ingredients are this average, I am not sure if I am that encouraged to try the remainder of the menu. However, the staff is very friendly and accommodating.

My pickle was sad, too! I thought the fresh mozzarella sandwich with tomatoes and pesto was ok, but not great. Something in the proportions was a little off, and the tomatoes were lacking flavor (in Indiana in August! Not ok!). I doubt I’ll go back.
That is what my wife had and she would echo the same comment. The sandwich market is competitive, and with Lenny’s right around the corner and $3.50 or so cheaper…it is difficult to justify the cost.
Well at least the staff was nice. Pickles are my favorite so if I’m gonna get skimped on a pickle forget it lol
The bread-meat ratio looks WAY off on that sandwich, and the pickle certainly does look sorry! There really isn’t any good excuse for a sandwich this subpar at THAT price.
I had this before and had the same experience. It is amazing they are still open.
um, thats why i dont eat at SUBWAY. giant bread. cheap veggies, ( and at the end of the evening, do you think they throw them out?)little meat or cheese. ( has any one ever asked if subway uses ” evoo” when you order oil and vinegar. No, thought not. probably cheap olive oil, which is ok, since it is the only thing that gives their sandwiches some taste. On another note, I have never been to philly. But the best steak sammich I ever had was belive it or not, in a snack shop on a fishing pier in atlantic beach NC. It was thin shaved beef, cooked on the grill. on a toasted 8 inch bun. You had your choice, with american cheese or with out. Ketchup, mustard , or mayo on on the counter. The guy said I’ll wrap it up, so you can go back to your fishing poles, and have a beer out of your cooler, which is forbinden, of course. Best sammich ever.
Ha ha… search Subway on the site, I had a rant a few months ago. That sandwich sounds good!
Ummm…yeah, I was with you dude!
