Chili’s

I have been lucky enough to travel a good part of the US and eat at some very cool places, but at times I have a relapse. Looking at chain casual restaurants, Chili’s is my favorite over Applebee’s, TGI Friday’s, Ruby Tuesday, Max & Erma’s and O’Charley’s.
Most of this is due to the southwest flavors on the menu. I know…I am reaching by calling this southwest food! However, if you read the blog you know that I have a strong preference for Mexican and even Tex-Mex food.
What I Got: Crispy Chicken Crisper Tacos $9.00
Ingredients: Three extra crispy chicken breast tacos with bacon, pico, cheese, lettuce and honey chipotle ranch dressing.
Eating this dish was a nice reminder that at times, less is more. With fried chicken, cheese, bacon and ranch, there are too many “fats” in these tacos. Cheese was a non-factor and I didn’t taste it at all. I wasn’t offended by the taste of the tacos, but with all the fun ingredients, I thought they would be better.
Would I Buy It Again? No to these tacos. I am not going to stomp my feet if some co-workers want to go to Chili’s, but I am probably not going to be the one to recommend it. I am going to stick to my standard of the Cajun Chicken Sandwich, which is actually pretty good.
I have to say though, I think that Chili’s Ranch Dressing is one of the better ones out there. I’ve thought about doing lines of it.
Oh yeah, if I am going to get tacos, you just can’t beat these from Taqueria Guanajuato…the best taco in Indy.

Still? That is a pretty impressive plate for $9 – sorry it wasn’t to your liking, but I will keep in mind your recommendation of the sandwich if I ever get back to Chili’s.
God, I also love Chili’s ranch, it really is one of the best. I think I’m gonna get an IV full of it and set it up to drip in my mouth, that’s healthy right?
I prefer Chilis over Applebees too. The Chilis Big Mouth Bites are pretty good…. I think that’s what they’re called…?
I suffer daily from not having any good “sit-down” restaurants in my city. It causes me great pain, LOL. Seriously though, the only restaurant like this that we have is an Applebee’s. That place gets old really quickly when it’s all there is. I’ve hit Chili’s up a few times in other places, and it’s good. I think I might like to give these tacos a try, but I’d prefer corn tortillas over the flour ones.
And if you do lines of ranch dressing, I want to see a video! I did a line of popcorn salt in 7th grade. Worst idea ever.
LOL to doing lines of ranch
Too many fats? Bite your tongue!
Applebee’s is my top casual chain but only because they have the Asian chicken wrap. Unbelievably addictive. Max and Erma’s is 2nd for the tortilla soup. It seems like I find one item at each place that I love, and the rest is eh. Still looking for that item at Chili’s. I’ll have to give the Cajun chicken a go.
