Papa Murphy’s – Meat deLite Pizza
http://www.papamurphys.com/
Papa Murphy’s is a take and bake pizza place. No tax and there are usually coupons galore. Unwrap it, throw it in the over for about 10 minutes and you are good to go. Long story short, you can find some great deals here.
The deLite Pizzas are a thin crust with ½ carbs and ½ calories, since we are saving on the dough, we might as well load it up with meat! Ha. Pepperoni, sausage, beef and 100% whole milk cheese is included on this pie. A large runs you about $9.99.
The meat version is plagued by some of the pepperoni grease saturated the thin crust and it doesn’t get very crispy. Don’t get me wrong, they are not soggy pieces, but not crackerish either. Toppings were plentiful, but I didn’t think that they were top of the line in quality.
This pizza falls into my saying that even bad pizza is pretty tolerable. Papa Murphy’s has a niche, cheap pizza that is pretty decent. I think that Papa Murphy’s would struggle in a blind taste test next to some of the major chains, but definitely better than the majority of frozen pizza.
Would I Buy It Again: If I am looking for a lot of pizza for cheap, Sure. I had a coupon for Buy a large pizza, get a large deLite. 2 larges for $10.00…hard to beat.
If I am looking for the best pizza in town, No. Just and fyi, Papa Murphy’s is the 5th largest pizza chain in the US so I know that some people are digging it. I prefer their original pizza instead of the deLIte.

I got the Herb Chicken Mediterranean deLite pizza a few weeks ago (I foolishly forgot to get my camera out to do a review) and was a very big fan. I certainly would buy it again and would also recommend it to others if you are looking for a pizza that is slightly outside of the ordinary pizza of sausage, pepperoni, etc…
I’m not a fan of the plain cheese or pepperoni DeLites (and I hate the spelling); they tend to be greasy, like you mentioned. Some of their other varieties are better though — there’s one with chicken, spinach, bacon and artichokes that is pretty good. I think there’s another chicken and spinach one with a white sauce and sundried tomatoes. I usually get the DeLite for myself or if I have girlfriends over; men generally seem to prefer the regular. The DeLite isn’t manly enough!
I LOVE Papa Murphy’s, but I feel like the more toppings you get, the better. Mrs. Show and I usually get the gourmet classic italian. Do you like that one?
Mmmmm…squares.
The meat Delite is about the only pizza I really like from Papa Murphy’s. The thinner the crust, the better. I do agree witht he review that the crust can get soggy but I have no problem eating it with a fork.
If you can, take the pepperoni off of the pizza and microwave it for a minute or so on a plate with a lot of paper towels. This will get a lot of the grease out of it, and it will taste even better when cooked on your pizza. I make my own pizza at home, and slice my own pepperoni. This method always reduces the grease and the results are always outstanding. You would be amazed at just how much grease comes out of pepperoni.
Papa murphys does not take care of their employees period. Just another money hungry buisness.
If you are employed at a Papa Murphy’s and have had a bad experience, then I’m sorry. You should really try working for my bosses. You’d have a whole new, positive outlook on things.
Oh, and just as a hint…. if you want the pizza crispy, you should either cook deLites on the bottom rack of your oven or burn the outer edge of the crust a little. Then the whole bottom will be perfecto.
Gawd. The Herb Chicken Mediterranean deLite pizza is the best pizza I’ve ever tasted. Pretty amazing for one of those ‘take em bake em pizzas’. My husband and I will definitely get that one again! I’ve already clipped out the $2 coupons for the next visit.
