Rally's Big Buford

What I AteRally’s (known as Checkers in some parts of the country) Big Buford burger $2.00 (available as part of a 2 for $4 deal at most Rally’s locations)

Rally’s is a guilty pleasure for me and the Big Buford definitely fits that description.  This burger is also a nutrition bomb (570 calories), so its not going to do any favors to dieters.

The burger is a double burger patty with two pieces of cheese stacked on top of a sesame seed bun.  Also included on the burger is red onion, ketchup, mustard, pickle, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise.  Basically, this thing has every single traditional topping you could think of on a burger.

As for the taste, it’s outstanding.  The burger patties are a little thin, but when you stack two of them together, it really feels like you are getting quite a bit of meat and you don’t really notice their thinness any longer.  Also, the vegetables they throw on this thing are suprisingly fresh.  Both the onions and the lettuce are crunchy which is quite a shock considering what you get on your typical fast food burger.  The wet toppings can get a little messy, but you aren’t eating this thing to watch your waist line, so who cares.  This is truly gluttony at its best.

Would I Buy It Again?  Absolutely yes.  This one is recommended and if you really feel like blowing your diet or just eating a good burger for pretty cheap, this is the route to go.

  1. I think this sounds pretty good, although I’ve never had one.

But I’d buy it just because of the name. “Big Buford”. I LOVE that name!

  2. I love the name too. It’s completely random (it would seem), yet so completely awesome.

  3. I have a Checkers near me but I don’t go that often. It’s pretty good fast food though…especially price/size-wise. I want a Big Buford now. Anyone know if there are any real differences betwee the Rallys and Checkers menus?

  4. If you go to the Checkers/Rally’s website, you will see that there are slight differences, but nothing major.

The Big Buford is excellent, but if you want something that will re-define your life, get the fries from Checkers/Rally’s. In my opinion, they are hands down the best fries in the entire fast food industry. They are expensive, but it’s worth it.

  5. I agree with indianapoliseater! Rally’s fries are like no other. They are absolutely the best!

  6. Adam, I didn’t know this until I just did a Google search on their fries, but did you know that they are now available for purchase at Wal-Mart? I despise Wal-Mart, but the ability to buy giant bags of these things for use at all times might be enough to get me to go there.

“….but if you want something that will re-define your life, get the fries from Checkers/Rally’s. In my opinion, they are hands down the best fries in the entire fast food industry. I haven’t had Checker’s’ fries in probably 10 years but damn if next time I’m ever near one I’ll now go (far) out of my way to try them.

  10. Yeah, I think that Carl’s Jr. burger could do a pretty good job stopping my heart as well.

  11. Some very interesting points raised here, which has got me thinking!

  12. That’s funny you brought up the fries because in my original comment I was going to mention how everyone raves about their fries. Not among my favorites…I love Chick-fila waffle fries and Popeye’s cajun fries the best.

  13. Carl’s Jr is the equivalent of the midwest Hardee’s and personally their thickburgers are my favorite other than In N Out which will will never be lucky enough to have.

I picked up the 2-$4 Big Buford a few weeks ago. I inhaled one and my 2 daughters took down the other. Although 570 calories seems like a lot, start comparing it to other fast food burgers like a Whopper and the 570 doesn’t look too bad.

  14. I have a total of four Rallys/Checkers locations in my state. And they aren’t even close to me. I have eaten there before, but that was 6 years ago. The one thing I do remember is their fries were AWESOME!

  15. @ cress, where do you live? Only 4 bogus!!
@ ryan, good tip on the cajun fries, never tried them.
@eater “define your life” geez… They are good though!
