Review: Miyagi’s

Miyagi’s
3625 E 96th St - Indianapolis, IN 46240-1566

If it was a Saturday night, my wife said “lets go out on a date, Chinese food sounds good.”  Well, a year ago we would be kind of screwed if we wanted to stay on the northside and go to a nice restaurant that has Asian flavors.  I mean, maybe PF Changs (based on interior of the restaurant only), but don’t get me started there.  Then came the poorly named “Miyagi’s.”  I mean, why not call it “Danny LaRusso’s?”

I was skeptical at first (I read a few hit and miss reviews,) but as I walked in I was impressed by the interior.  The menu is pretty deep, lots of entree choices and apps. My wife had a steamed Sea Bass special, very light on seasoning and preparation.  I like that, let the fish be in the driver’s seat.  We also had some of the wings they had on the menu, they were cooked well, but pretty spicy.

We also had some salmon and the sashimi platter…oh yeah…and a roll!   I wasn’t very impressed with the roll menu, and the roll that I ordered was just ok.  However, the sashimi salmon was awesome.  Generous pieces as well.  The sashimi sampler platter was solid as well.  I am not a fan of Octopus, but theirs was convincingly good.

Would I Buy It Again?  Yes. If you are looking for sashimi on the north side of Indy, this is great choice.  If you want a solid app menu and a great place to take a date, then would work as well.  However, if you are more into rolls, then I would head up to I Sushi.

I was a little late to write this review so some of the details are behind me, but if you want to see better pictures and a more detailed review, check out Indy Restaurant Scene.
