McAlister’s Deli started about 20 years ago by people who don’t know shit about a deli. Instead of franchising a NY Deli, lets go ahead and franchise a converted gas station from Oxford, Mississippi and that will be our golden ticket. Geez…
I have been to McAlister’s a handful of times before, but I decided to give it one last try. How can you go wrong with a club sandwich, right?
Their club has turkey, ham, bacon, cheddar, swiss, lettuce, tomatoes, honey mustard, lite mayo and wheat bread. As far as taste, it wasn’t offensive, but it wasn’t very good. Low quality watery deli meat masked by mayo and honey mustard. It was a decent sized sandwich, but I wasn’t overly impressed. Potato salad was mayo heavy, bland and ridiculously average.
Would I Buy It Again? No. For about $1.00 more you can go to Stanley’s and they have one of the best club sandwichs in Indy. Need another reason not to get this, this non-intimidating club sandwich packs 1029 Calories, 56g fat 3143 mg sodium. I still wonder why people give McDonald’s and Hardee’s a bad rap when you see numbers like these from McAlister’s and Paradise Bakery.

I’m with you on this place…I just can’t figure out for the life of me why people like it so much. The food is just okay, but the prices are outrageous. I’d rather go to Blimpie or even god forbid (in your mind), Subway, in order to get a sandwich.
Me, grumpy? Never! I was un sure if I was going to call this a review or a rant. I am sure either title would suit it well.
The “waist” got you. Wish I could say I haven’t made the same mistake before.
I think the place really appeals to women. My wife loves the place and everything I get there is just average or worse to me. The clubs looks loaded with meet but all I can ever taste is the tomato and cheese because the meet has little flavor. I agree with Ryan, even Subway blows away the McAlister’s from my experience.

Glad to see I’m not the only one who doesn’t get why people rave about McAllister’s. There’s one really close to my house and I’ve only been there a handful of times in the 5 or so years it’s been open. Their food is very mediocre to me and very expensive. I wasn’t a big fan of Spicy Pickle either, which was right across the street, but no one else was either, so why does McAllister’s stay in business when Spicy Pickle can’t make it? I’d love to have a truly good deli with good meats nearby. The curse of living in Fishers, I guess.
