Review: Chick-fil-A Chicken Biscuit

Author: WIBIA | Filed under: Food Reviews

I have the tendency to eat some things that I shouldn’t at breakfast.  Cake, pizza, whatever is in the fridge…  I am not proud of it, but I am just being honest here.  I made (not reheated) Mac and Cheese for breakfast once about 5 years ago.  Geez…

I know that I am not the only one that does this – yesterday, my wife knocked out her leftover Chicken Parm from dinner at 9:30 am.  I am sure she will be pleased that I included this into the blog.  The good news is that I am down 10 lbs in the last month and within 3 weeks of having a baby, she is skinner than she was pre-pregnancy.  Hot!!  Maybe we have unlocked a secret pattern of eating dinner for breakfast, doubt it.  Ok, that is what you call getting sidetracked folks…

However, I have never had fried chicken for breakfast.  I get the fried chicken wings and waffles thing, but I have yet to try it (together at least).  What do I have to lose right?   So I gave the Chicken Biscuit a try.

Pressured cooked in peanut oil, the chicken was fresh and tasty.  It had the same taste as the chicken sandwich that you would get at lunch/dinner, just a smaller piece.  The biscuit was soft and warm with a touch of sweetness.  It appeared to have a little honey on the top of the bun, you can see it in the pic.  I looked at the ingredients on line, but couldn’t confirm that was honey.

Would I Buy It Again:  Yes. Overall, I really liked the taste.  Just the right amount of sweetness, and the chicken was soft and tender.

I liked:

Chicken for breakfast
Slightly sweet
Top Quality
Table visit by Mgmt, great customer service.

I didn’t like:

Contemporary Christian Pop music blaring in my ears at 7:15 am
450 Calories 20g Fat. (though pretty average for a fast food breakfast sandwich)
A touch small, you could easily eat 2.
Ketchup packet is only in the pic for a size reference, I do not recommend ketchup on this.

  1. There was just too much good stuff in this post :)

I think you may be on to something too, congrats to the both of you on your weight loss!

“… I am not proud of it, but I am just being honest here. I made (not reheated) Mac and Cheese for breakfast once about 5 years ago.” – Hahahah. Pizza for breaky is the best!!! Never had chicken either, that’s just weird. Ryan swears by Chick-fil-A’s breakfast…..I don’t have one near me so I guess I’ll never know….plus who can resist the allure that is the McGriddle.

“Contemporary Christian Pop music blaring in my ears at 7:15 am” – Hahahaha, I kinda like that they do play that though, it’s nice to see a “corporate” place still hug to their customs or morals or whatever you want to call it.

  3. I agree with Bear, this was a really great post. I LOL’d at the “contemporary christian pop” reference.

  4. Lol this was a great review! Maybe I should tell my friend who is trying to loose some weight about the dinnfast diet! My hubby has gotten the Chicken Biscuit before and you are way right, it is way too small for a grown man :P So you end up getting a side and having way for than 450 cals. :P

  5. For me, these really depend upon the freshness of the biscuit. If I’m lucky enough to get a fresh, tender biscuit – mmm, that’s heaven. Crap. Now I’m hungry.

  6. Contemp. Chr. Pop at 7AM? Enough to ruin anyone’s day. :)

  7. @ Bear, Ha thanks. I agree, I like a “corporate” place not selling out, but on the same hand, you didn’t have to listen to it! I like the food, so I will just get it to go from now on.
@Bronze – I will remember…make fun of my wife, Christian pop, and talking about my poor eating habits = good post! Ha.
@celtic – Your husband and I seem to have the same appetite, BIG!
@Sarah – I agree with you there. I have two more biscuit reviews coming up, BK and Hardee’s…. the best biscuit won.
@tenderloin – Ha, it pretty much bothers me anytime of the day. Just not my thing at all. If they had a clue, they should be playing “Patchwork” in there…

  8. Great post! Anything involving Chick-fil-A and I’m all about it…I swear I’ve had everything but maybe 3 or 4 items on the entire CFA menu…I’d review them all back to back to back (trust me, I have pictures of all of it) but then the review rundown would be overrun with way too many high scores from Chick-fil-A…more than it already is anyways.
I know CFA has a Christian oriented background and they are closed on Sundays and have biblical kids meal toys from time to time…but I haven’t yet noticed the music thing. Haha. Drive-thru is key. Plus have you noticed how clean the bathrooms at CFA are? Great service too. You’d think I was being paid by Chick-fil-A but I swear I’m not…I made a CFA run this morning actually. Keep’em coming!

  9. Dude! You are seriously obsessed with this place. I have never actually tasted anything on their menu. I’ve been a couple times but I didn’t eat their personally. I’m gonna have to make a trek one of these days, especially the way you talk about like it IS some religious relic :P

  10. LOVE Chik-fil-A, from this thing to the their waffle fries. Best fast food ever.

  12. Bear, if you want a reasonable facsimile of the CFA Chicken Biscuit (LOVE CFA!) you can get a Southern-Style Chicken Biscuit at McDonald’s. Pretty tasty there too, though I much prefer CFA anytime. Yuuummmmmzzzzz.

  13. I was skeptical about eating chicken sandwiches for breakfast myself…but I’m in LOVE with their little chicken mini sandwich things…oh! drool.
Something about them being tiny and bite sized makes them better too…
(OMG and try their cinnamon wheel thing too!!!! AHHHHH!!! goodness)

  14. I love Chick-Fil-A, but I avoid their breakfast. I think their biscuits suck. Although it has been years since I last tried one. Maybe they’ve changed.
