Review: Taco Bell 7-Layer Dip Nachos

Author: indianapoliseater | Filed under: Food Reviews, Recommended: Fast Food

Taco Bell now has three different varieties of nachos on their “Why Pay More” every day value menu that vary in price at 3-layer $0.79, 5-layer $0.89 and 7-layer $0.99.    The amount of toppings directly corresponds to the amount of price.

What I Ate:  7-layer dip nachos $0.99.

The 7 layers are diced tomatoes, nacho cheese, beans, sour cream, guacamole and red sauce.  All of which are standard Taco Bell ingredients.

What is worth discussing is the guacamole.  It had a faint aftertaste that made me think I was eating something that had metal in it. This is similar to many store bought guacs as well.  I love guacamole, but it does have an impact on the flavor so you may want to take notice of that depending on how you feel about guacamole.  I would assume this aftertaste is caused by the preservative put into the guacamole in order for it to keep in shipping and storage.

Otherwise, there are no surprises here.

The toppings are plentiful and the only drawback to these nachos is that they do not come with enough chips.

Would I Buy It Again? Yes, I would highly recommend it.  For $0.99, you can’t get a better deal with the amount of toppings that they put on this.  This is definitely a great value.

Additional Rambling:  I would order again it without sour cream since I am not a fan of sour cream (I guess that would make these 6-layer nachos). You really can’t miss with Taco Bell.

  1. I normally like guacamole but mine tasted kinda weird…not weird enough to not eat though. Yeah I agree…it should come with an extra side of dry chips.

  2. The guac tasted like metal, but I would buy it again!? You crack me up my friend. It looks like they gave you a ton of sour cream for someone that doesn’t like it. This looks like a good add on to a meal, but not the main course. I think that we should hit up the border and see who could eat $25 dollars worth of TB first.

Good review sir, it’s good to have you on the team.

  3. $25 worth of TB? You can take that victory. $25 worth of Taco Bell could probably feed a small country.

  4. Oh and another thing…the beauty of Taco Bell is the variety of cheap options…the value menu is exceptional. It’s easy to spend less than $5 bucks and pick 5 different items. I like to mix it up. Although the value menu items are sized good enough that I could easily get by with spending less than $2 for 2 items…I usually never get drinks bc my backseat is usually occupied by a 24 pack of bottled water.

  5. Water in the car is a good idea. Taco Bell has my favorite value menu. Maybe eating everything off the value menu would be a better idea that $25.

  7. Good review, but you got one thing wrong. There is no beef in 7-layer nachos. 7-layer is a vegetarian dish. You can also get a 7-layer burrito (no meat in that one either).

  8. fixed, thanks! How much is the 7 layer burrito?

  9. Note: I bought these again last night and based on the order I got, I would not buy them again (it was at a different Taco Bell location). So, it appears as if the consistency of ingredients varies from day to day and from location to location.

  10. 7-layer nachos or burrito are NOT Vegetarian. The sour cream contains gelatin.

  11. That’s getting a bit picky. Cheese has rennet (part of the stomach) in it. I think vegan and vegetarian are being confused here.
