Have a longer title folks!  Through some competition, they were voted best pizza in the world.  Did I hear that right, the best pizza in the world is in Carmel, IN?!  I highly doubt it.  I am making this claim right now, “I have the biggest wang in the world.”  See how easy that was?!

Their slogan is “We’re New York Italian.”

It appears that you are as much “Indiana Italian” as than anything else.

What I ate:
Chicken Francese – $15.99.
Correct, I couldn’t try the best pizza in the world.

Bread is served at the table with olive oil.   The olive oil is heavily seasoned with red peppers, rosemary, parmesan cheese, pepper and a few other seasonings.  The bad part is that the seasoning stays in the oil unless you have mad skills to scoop it out (I do).   Taste wise, I enjoyed it.  I wish that I could make fun of it, but it was great.

When you order your entree, they ask what kind of pasta.  You can pick form Spaghetti, Angel Hair, Fettuccini, Penne and Rigatoni.  Or if you have no life, you can sub pasta for veggies.

Chicken Francese arrived in two thin but large cutlets of chicken and I opted for Rigatoni.  The chicken was really tender and the lemon butter sauce was nicely seasoned.  Rigatoni was cooked well as far as consistency, 20% of the noodles were torn without being overcooked. Big portions here, I could barely eat it all and I was starving.

The Verdict:  Yes, I would buy it again.   I would even make a small trip to go there.  It was surprisingly good.

Additional Rambling:

I really wanted to hate this joint, but I didn’t.  “Best pizza in the world” and a few other cheesy appointments.  Service was solid and the food was even better.   I am going to go back soon for the pizza, so stay tuned. There is something to be said for those Indiana Italians!
